Product Timeline

Gerber Scientific Products, Inc. was founded in January 1980 as a subsidiary of Gerber Scientific, Inc. The concept of an automated lettering system was born at Gerber when the Signmaker® III was introduced in November 1982. Since then, Gerber has studied the customers’ needs and developed and produced a complete range of products for the sign, graphics and screenprint industries.

Signmaker® III, Graphix 3® (1983)
The world's first low-cost, easy-to-use, automated lettering system for letters up to 12".
 

Signmaker® IV, Graphix 4® (1983)
All the features of SMIII/GX3 plus: AutoKerning, multi-line, rotate, half font up to 24", arcing, auto number, X Y moves.
 

Graphix 2® (1984)
Smaller version of the SM for lettering up to 2".
 

GDS™, S/750™ and DSRM Options (1984)
Add graphic reproduction, larger plotting and job save capabilities to SM/GX systems.
 

Signmaker® IVB, Graphix 4® (1985)
Incorporates program module compatibility with basic SMIV/GX4 features.
 

System 48™ (1985)
The world's first low-cost, high-precision, automated routing system.
 

GSP SPRINT™I (1986)
Advanced system which incorporates video monitor, higher plotting speed, dual processing, true curves and automatic layout with basic SM/GX features.

HS 750™ Plotter (1988)
Servo motors add ultra high speed to this 30" plotter option for SMIVB/GX4B, GSP SPRINT II and SuperSprint.
 

GerberScanner® II (1989)
