OMEGA 3.0 Service Pack 1 Readme File 10-20-09 This readme file is the most up-to-date and accurate. Please disregard the Readme that displays at the end of the installation. This Service Pack will install in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, or Dutch. To Install the OMEGA 3.0 Service Pack: BACKUP ALL JOBS, FONTS, IMAGES, CUSTOMER CONTACTS ANY ANY OTHER IMPORTANT FILES 1. You must be running the production Gerber Omega 3.0 build 72. 2. Close, (not minimize) all open applications, including OMEGA Programs and virus checking software. 3. Run the Setup file. 4. Follow the on screen prompts. 5. Run OMEGA programs again as needed. The following items are included in this release. ArtPath32: 1. Older files job limits are calculated correctly. Limits will be re-calculated upon job open. 2. Absolute Size dialog improved with metric measurements. 3. ArtPath Output dialog now contains a checkbox to guard user from changing underlay amount without knowing. 4. ARTPath saves screen position and size. 5. MSeries target tool now contains filled circles rather than + marks. 6. Added support for Industrial Router. 7. Custom tools added by users can now be used AutoCarve: (Available only for those who have the OMEGA AutoCarve option) Erratic tool paths generated because of position of object data. Data is now normalized before performing tool path generation. Composer: 1. Image bounds are properly set for the size of an image. 2. Improved stability When importing some older PLT files. 3. Improved stability after rotation then replacing or repeating objects then trying to save the file. 4. Improved opening 2.6 files with an image in Omega 3.0. 5. Small text generation is faster because “smoothing” is controlled directly and no longer needs to change via the System’s Control Panel applet. 6. Faster performance in some larger files. 7. Faster Composer performance when moving long lines of text. 8. Tools>Options>Default save legacy files to OFF. 3.0 will not be added to certain saved legacy files 9. Changed the default fill back to "no fill". 10. vignette tool no longer turns pictures a bluish color GspPlot 1. Made change when reading job parameters to clear the "Center on Vinyl" check box for vinyl-only jobs. This check box only has meaning for print jobs, and is disabled for vinyl-only. A problem can occur if the operator preferences center-on-vinyl (during a print job), and then opens a vinyl-only job. The check box is checked and disabled, meaning the operator can't un-check it. When this check box is checked, the "stack copies" check box is disabled, since we don't allow both. This leaves the operator in the position of not being able to stack copies of vinyl-only panel jobs. This has now been fixed, and resolves SCR#6302 "Stack copies button greyed out". 2. Corrected the calculating of the maximum allowable number of y-repeats for a vinyl-only job being cut on a Graphtec plotter. It was assumed the weed border was included in the target gutter, but there is no target gutter on a vinyl-only job. This resolves SCR#6427 "number of repeats allowed in plot doesn't take weed border into account". 3. Fixed issue that would sometimes cause problems on certain jobs when the operator selected "Output by Layer" from Composer. This resolves SCR#6388 "Output by Layer is Broken". 4. Made change for Gerber plotters to omit the final move if the job is a panel job and the last panel has stacked copies. This resolves SCR#6420 "Stacked PLOT copies end at the bottom of the top panel not the bottom of the job". 5. Fixed issue when performing cutting using "Rules by Layer" that would sometimes not issue a tool parameter change while doing repeats. The initial tool setting was issued outside of the repeat loop, and needed to be inside the loop. This resolves SCR#6372 "Cut Rules by Layer Doesn't Change Settings Properly". Barcoding: Barcodes are now generated as a series of images instead of vector objects. 1. Corrected the generating of barcodes for vinyl-only autotext. If the "#1" is vinyl only, spot black foil will be added to the job, and assigned to the barcode IMOs. 2. Made changes to speed up barcode generation. 3. Made changes to allow larger numbers in the AutoNumber page of the dialog. The old limit was 2,147,483,647 (10 digits). The new limit is 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 (19 digits). Only a single AutoNumber can be generated when creating barcodes 4. Made change to the "Barcode Properties" tab of the dialog. The "Bearer Bar Width" field has been replaced with "Label Height". This will allow the operator to set independent width and height values for many barcode formats. 5. Fixed results alignment to match that of the source. Readable text now is the size the user specifies in the Barcode dialog. The way the readable text size was determined in the release will cause a lock up if the size (Label Length) was less than 1". 6. Fixed spacing problem if small text was used as a template for an auto number and there was nothing more than a #1. Import/Export: 1. Made change when writing EPS or AI files to expand the values on the %%BoundingBox line in the header by one unit. Without this change Onyx will sometimes clip part of the cut shape and create line segments instead of preserving a single closed shape. 2. When saving back to prior versions of Omega PLT file, made change to save to a .TMP file, then copy the .TMP file to the file name specified by the operator if the save succeeds. 3. Resolved SCR#6421 - Export dimension annotations doesn't work and modifies the current job in memory G32Extra: Added ability to surround object based on group id - selectable from within the dialog. Shadow: 1. Resolved SCR#6443 - 3 lines of different color text get same color when shadowed. 2. Made changes to improve performance when joining open shapes.
