NEW MATERIALS SETTINGS INCLUDED IN THIS UPDATE: ---------------------------------------------- * Gerber PlastiGraphix™ Outdoor LexEdge™ 15" x 10 Yards P72790A or 15" x 50 Yards P72791A Previously Outdoor LexEdge used LexEdge II settings. This material update includes new settings adjusted specifically for Outdoor LexEdge. Outdoor LexEdge is a durable, 10 mil LEXAN®-based polycarbonate with a matte/polished clear finish. Similar to LexEdge II and LexEdge Clear, it offers the timesaving benefits of printing directly onto the final substrate in second surface applications. Designed to resist tearing, abrasion, and yellowing effects from UV exposure. IMPROVED FOIL SETTINGS FOR THE FOLLOWING GERBER EDGE 2/EDGE FX MATERIALS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SETTINGS FOR PRINTING AT 300 DPI * Gerber Controltac™ Plus Series 250C with Comply™: Updated settings for GerberColor™ Process Pro Magenta and Process Pro Black foil. * Gerber Series 220 Premium Film: Adjusted settings for better print quality and to reduce potential smearing. * Gerber EDGE Postive™: Improved print quality for GerberColor Black and Jet Black foil (the only foils approved for this material.) * Gerber PlastiGraphix LexEdge II: Improved settings for the following GerberColor foils: Black, Gold, Jet Black, Light Grey, and Trans Yellow. SETTINGS FOR PRINTING AT 600 DPI * Gerber Series 220 Clear Enamel Receptive: Settings for GerberColor Process Pro Yellow, Process Pro Magenta, Process Pro Cyan, and Process Pro Black. * Gerber Series 220 Premium Film: Adjust the settings for better print quality and to reduce potential smearing. * Gerber PlastiGraphix LexEdge II: Improved settings for the following GerberColor foils: Beige, Black, Gold, Light Grey, and Trans Yellow. IMPROVED FOIL SETTINGS FOR THE FOLLOWING GERBER MAXX 2 MATERIALS: ----------------------------------------------------------------- * Gerber Series 281 Relflective Sheeting: Adjusted settings for Trans Brown. COMPATIBLE SOFTWARE: -------------------- The February 2006 Materials Update is compatible with the following releases: * OMEGA™ 1.56.0.19 (build 19) through OMEGA 2.5.0.349 (build 349) or higher. * OMEGA 2.1 users should install the latest version of OMEGA 2.1 which is available from the Gerber website: www.gspinc.com/Support/Downloads/ OMEGA before loading this material update. This Material Update is NOT compatible with GRAPHIX ADVANTAGE™. If you want to use any of these new material settings you must upgrade to OMEGA 2.5. Please contact your Gerber Distributor for more information. The update will load only on a system on which a compatible version of OMEGA has been installed. Additional Note: If you do not have compatible software, you will see an error message similar to the following: "Invalid Target System: This update is intended for systems with a Version between 1.56.0.19 and 1.56.0.44. Your system is 1.54.1.12." You must install a valid version of the software before installing the Materials Update. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION FOR GERBER EDGE FX USERS: A corresponding firmware upgrade to the GERBER EDGE FX is required in order to be able to print using the new materials and settings. If you attempt to print using these materials without updating your GERBER EDGE FX firmware printing, may not be optimal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: -------------------------- This update obsoletes any previous Materials Updates. If you are unsure if you have the latest Materials Update, visit ww.gspinc.com/Support/Downloads /OMEGA. You can download the newest Materials Update files via the internet. For updates obtained via the internet: 1. Close all OMEGA programs, including GSP Tray. (It is also a good idea to close any Windows® programs and virus scan software that are running.) 2. The setup program and all its necessary components have been compressed into a self-extracting archive. Double click the Download icon and you will be asked to Run or Save the file. 3. Choose Save and browse to the location in which to save the downloaded file such as the Windows Desktop. Saving the download to your Windows Desktop makes it convenient to locate the file in the next step. 4. After downloading (extracting) the file, double-click the .exe file on your Windows Desktop (or locate it through Windows Explorer), or execute the (.exe) from the Start > Run command line. The WinZip Self-Extractor displays. 5. Unzip the files to a location easily accessed such as the Windows Desktop or Temp folder. 6. Locate the Setup.exe file and double click it to launch the Update program. Follow the on-screen instructions. 7. If you have a GERBER EDGE FX, continue with the next procedure to update the firmware. For updates obtained on a CD: 1. Close all OMEGA programs, including GSP Tray. (It is also a good idea to close any Windows programs and virus scan software that are running.) 2. Insert the CD into the CD drive of your computer. A Maintenance Update dialog box should automatically display. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Note: If you are using a CD and the Maintenance Update dialog box does not appear, go to Start > Run and then type "D:/Autorun.exe" using the appropriate drive letter for your CD drive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to load the Materials Update. 4. If you have a GERBER EDGE FX, continue with the next procedure to update the firmware. Updating the GERBER EDGE FX Firmware ==================================== In order to print with the new materials and foil settings included in this update you must update the firmware of your GERBER EDGE FX to version H or higher. If you attempt to print with the new materials or settings without updating the firmware, printing may not be optimal. New firmware for the GERBER EDGE FX is included as part of the April 2006 Material Update Download. It is located in the following folder of the unzipped download: - \misc\firmware\EDGE FX\EdgeFX_H2_Build_23.gsp It is also available on the GSP website in the following location: www.gspinc.com/support/downloads/printers.html The firmware file you will use is: EdgeFX_H0_Build_H2.gsp Please review the Release Documentation included with the firmware download for instructions on the update procedure for GERBER EDGE FX firmware.
