Multimedia Overview

This version of OMEGA makes it easier then ever to transform your works in progress into works of art.

2.5.1 is now the standard software with any new OMEGA purchases, including upgrades and new software installations, and is now compatible with 64 bit versions of Windows XP.

Faster Processing:
Layer Manager can process elements in large
complex files faster then in OMEGA 2.5. Turn off
Layer Manager to speed redraw and processing
time even further.

Enhanced Job Palette

The new Job Palette displays color swatches for vinyls, spot foils, process foils, and GerberColor Spectratone foils used in a job.

Flip Images and Gradient fills

You can now flip imported images using
the flip commands in the Shape Menu.

You can also flip shapes containing gradient fills
without having to manually update the fill.

Rotate Images

You can now rotate images just like
other objects using the commands
in the Shape Menu or the handles
on the work surface.

Improved Dimensioning

You can now select all dimensions of
a certain type using the Select Menu.

The Arrowhead Sizing % box has been added
to control the size of the arrowheads separately
from all other dimension components.

Global Stroke Edit

The new Stroke Width Edit command
in the Tools Menu allows you to edit
the width of all selected strokes either
individually or by scale.

Improved Context (right-click) menu

Now certain Tools Menu commands are available
by selecting an object and right-clicking to display
the context menu.

Improved Decal Cut

Adjust the White Threshold for images
in the new Decal Cut dialog box to
reduce rectangular cut results.

You can generate decal cuts as
cut lines, clipping paths, or both.

Paste Here and Import Cursors

When Pasting or Importing an object or file click
the new cursor on the work surface to position
the upper-left corner at that location.

Surround Shape option

Use the Tools > Surround command
to instantly create a box around the
selected objects in a job.

You can set the distance from the
objects and choose whether or not to
apply the current vinyl and fill style.

Importing and Extracting Image Paths

Now when importing an image file (JPEG, PSD, or TIF)
that contains a working path, saved path, or clipping path,
the Import Paths dialog box appears.

Enhancements to Layers

Improved LOCK/UNLOCK and
SHOW/HIDE icons make it harder
to accidentally lock or hide layers.

The Layer Tree now displays
OBJECT PROPERTIES for all items
listed including vinyl, fill and stroke.

Double-click on objects in the
Layer Tree using the Selection tool
or the Color Selection tool to perform
SMART EDITS on those objects.

MOVE TO and COPY TO
commands have been added to the
context menu which allow you to
place objects or copies on an existing
layer or on a newly created layer.

Improved PASTE BACK commands
are now available in the context menu
which allow you to paste an object in
the same position in front of
or in back of another object.

SHAPE MENU commands are now
available at the bottom of the Layer Tree
context menu so you can edit objects
directly from Layer Manager.

Improved Import and Export

OMEGA will automatically offer to try importing a file
with another filter if an AI or EPS as vector import fails.

When exporting jobs to AI or EPS files using
OMEGA filters you can preserve unique fill color
names including Gerber spot color, Gerber process
color and PANTONE® color names.

When exporting as raster files (BMP, TIF, JPG, or GIF)
you can specify the size of the file in pixels.

Layers to Output options

New options have been added to the
Select Colors dialog box in GSPPlot.

Click CURRENT ACTIVE LAYER to
output the layer currently displayed
on screen in GSPPlot.

Click ALL SELECTED LAYERS to
output all the checked layers in the
Select Colors dialog box.

Improved heat settings options

You can now view or change the heat settings in the
Print Options dialog box of GSPPlot. You can also
display a Heat column in the Foil Color list and apply
different settings for 1st pass and 2nd pass.

USB-to-Parallel option

The GERBER EDGE and EDGE 2 can now
be connected to an OMEGA computer via:

Parallel cable (standard)

USB-to-Parallel cable sold by Gerber.
This cable is required for the EDGE 2 if a new computer
does not have an ECP parallel port on the mother board.
The GERBER EDGE can be connected using an
off-the-shelf USB to parallel cable.
